Eagles Reach Regionals - Seek District Title

CCA pitchers Andrew Liberty and Austin Sovay combined to give up just three hits and allowed only one runner to reach third in a 3-0 shutout of Sagemont in the district quarterfinals. The win puts CCA into the District 14-3A Championship Thursday night against Coral Springs Christian. Regardless of the result Thursday, CCA is through to Regional play next week. The prize for the winner on Thursday is a home game for the first round of regionals.

Liberty was staked to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and had to make it stand up through five plus innings as CCA  was held at bay by Sagemont. Austin Sovay came on in the sixth with two runners aboard and two out but needed just one pitch to induce a ground out. The Eagles added two insurance runs in the sixth and Sovay  closed it out for his first save of the season.

The district final game is not news to CCA. The Eagles have played in the district championship the past three years and have come up short. Coach Mucerino would like a home game next Wednesday.
