CCA Gets 7-3 District Win in Home Opener

Calvary Christian Academy gave up three first inning runs but then put up six zeros waiting for the offense to come alive against Coral Springs Christian in the 2012 home opener. CCA tied the game in the fourth and put it away in the sixth with four runs on the way to 7-3 win in their home opener. With the win the Eagles improve to 3-2 and 1-0 in their district. Freshman Andrew Gottfried picked up his second win in relief of starter Austin Sovay who settled in nicely after the first inning. Gottfried also drove in three runs with a bases clearing single. Luke Poirier was 2-3 with a run scored and two RBI.

CSCA is widely considered the District 14-3A favorite so the win puts Calvary in a good early position, especially with back-to-back district games on the slate for Monday (WA) and Tuesday (Highlands).
