Austin Sovay went five plus innings and Andrew Gottfried got the final six outs to complete a 3-0 shutout at Coral Springs Christian. The victory gives CCA a regular season sweep of the Crusaders and moves the Eagles to the top of the district with a 4-2 record.
Senior Ryan Reilly delivered the big blow with a two run single in the sixth to send home Jonathan Gregory and Sovay. Abraham Alejandro (2 for 3) scored the third run with some daring base running by dashing home from third during a ground out to the pitcher. He took off after the pitcher threw to first and beat the throw back to the plate.
The Eagles have two remaining district games and both are at home. This week CCA hosts St. Albans from Washington, D.C. on Tuesday and district foe Sagemont on Friday.
