Eagles Win 11-1 on Senior Day

CCA honored six seniors before their final regular season home game and the Eagles came away with an 11-1 win against Champagnat Catholic. Ryan Lowrey earned his fifth win and the hits just kept on coming. CCA banged out 13 hits, 6 for extra bases, including doubles by Emilio DeSilva, Anthony Avila, Dalton DiNatale and Stephen Barnett. DiNatale also tripled and Taylor Gushue hit his 8th homer.

The Eagles have won eight in a row and eleven of their last twelve. It was the third win in a row in which CCA scored 11 runs. They have outscored opponents by an 87-16 margin during the eight game streak. Speaking of streaks, Ryan Reilly hit safely in eight straight plate appearances dating back to the Chaminade game before reaching on an error in his third PA today. He had another hit in his final at bat which makes him 9 for his last 10. Reilly has been on base in 13 of his last 14 trips to the plate.

Lowrey had a rough first inning - perhaps due to the change of routine for Senior Day ceremonies - but he escaped a bases loaded jam thanks to a fine defensive play by DeSilva to cut down a potential second run at the plate. In fact, the two hits CCA allowed were tappers to the third base line hit too softly for Tyler Middlebrooks to make the play, However, Middlebrooks made a spectacular scoop and throw of a slow roller to end the second inning.

CCA finishes the regular season Thursday night at North Broward Prep. Game time is 7 PM.
