Eagles Go To 4-0 in District - Beat CSCA

Toto liked it and so do the Eagles - home. Unbeaten on their own diamond, the Eagles improved to 8-5-1 and more importantly 4-0 in district play with a 9-3 win against Coral Springs Christian. CCA jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first and gave the ball to Ryan Lowrey to protect it. The senior hurler went 5 1/3 giving up only two runs on one hit before giving way to Seth Natal who earned the win.

The Crusaders chipped away with single runs in the fourth and fifth to tie the game but CCA exploded for seven runs in the sixth to earn their first three game winning streak of 2011.

Anthony Avila started the inning with a walk and was sacrificed into scoring position by Andrew Liberty. The Eagles were playing for one run, which they got when the next hitter, Ryan Reilly, crushed a hanging curve ball to deep center for his first double and the go ahead run. With nobody out, CCA went looking for the big inning and found it.

Chris Walkerow  singled and Stephen Barnett was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Emilio DeSilva. The senior second baseman singled in a run and was followed by a bases loaded walk to Taylor Gushue, his third free pass of the afternoon. Tyler Middlebrooks then doubled in two and Dalton DiNatale singled in two more. With the big lead, Natal challenged the Crusaders in the strike zone to finish the game for his third win.

CCA is home again Monday at 4 PM against Chicago Christian who are touring South Florida on spring break.
