Big 4th Inning Downs Somerset

The Eagles exploded for 13 runs - all unearned - for a 13-3 win against Somerset at CCA. Down 3-0 in the fourth inning, CCA sent 18 batters to the plate to put the game out of reach.

Anthony Avila had two doubles in the inning, Andrew Liberty and Taylor Gushue homered but the key to the win was Emilio DeSilva. The senior second baseman continued to do the little things that win games. With the game still in doubt, DeSilva laid down a sacrifice bunt to score Chris Walkerow with the go-ahead run. Liberty then powered a three run homer that hit the road beyond left field to extend the lead to 7-4. Gushue followed with his fourth homer of the year and two batters later Avila doubled in two more. All of this happened with nobody out compliments of four Panther errors.

Walkerow doubled in Avila, Knox Poole scored on a wild pitch and DeSilva doubled with two out. He eventually scored on a balk to complete the scoring. Chris Walkerow threw a 1-2-3 fifth inning and the 10-run rule took effect and gave Tyler Middlebrooks his first win. Middlebrooks also threw a 1-2-3 inning in the fourth.
