Fall Ball A Success

For several years, CCA has been trying to find their rhythm when it comes to fall baseball. This year's affiliation with the South Florida Prospects has born fruit during the summer and fall campaigns. The SF Prospects have been a successful travel organization for years and were in need of a 16U team. Coach Mucerino and Tito Rodriguez stepped up with several Calvary players involved to see if that relationship would work, and it has.

This fall the SF Prospects and Big Inning Baseball fielded two teams which allowed the coaches to see about 40 players perform at various positions. The new format provided a platform for these players to be in a good position to battle for a spot on the CCA varsity roster starting in January.

With pitching always at a premium, the coaches wanted to see as many players on the mound as possible. Though the pitch counts were kept low, the idea was to see who was developing and who was lagging behind. The good news is that CCA appears to have 10 players who can give quality innings this season. "The more the merrier" approach works well for CCA and allows kep position players to stay put and not be forced to into a starting role on the mound.

With the schedule being cooked up by Coach Mucerino, the Eagles better be ready.
