First Week Off And "Running"

Nothing ho hum about day one of CCA Baseball tryouts as the Eagles discover that four players run the 60 yard dash in less than 7 seconds. Add to that several others who ran in the low sevens and you get an idea of what this version of the Eagles will be all about. The new high school rules which require the bats this year to meet the BBCOR certification will change the way the game is played.

With the long ball becoming less frequent, small ball and team speed will be in vogue and Coach Mucerino was happy to see the numbers coming up on the stop watch Monday morning. The fact that the CCA diamond does not have a traditional fence may also provide some home field advantage. Mucerino is counting on the Eagle speedsters in the outfield to cut off the alleys while CCA batters take advantage of the outfield gaps.
