Eagle Alumni Update - Summer 2011

Seems like a good time to catch up with some of our CCA Alumni who are continuing their careers in college and pro ball. We'll get to Luke Jackson in a moment. Had a chance to speak with Preston Gainey's father, Jim, last week after service and asked about Preston. I was in the presence of a proud papa and for good reason!

Preston (CCA 2010) finished his Plebe year at the US Naval Academy picking up the win for the Black Knights against Army in the Patriot League Championship Game. Preston tossed three scoreless innings and struck out three to help Navy earn an invitation to the NCAA College Baseball Regionals. In so doing, Preston was named to the Patriot League All Tournament team!

He pitched out of the bullpen all season and rang up a 2-0 record with 4 saves in 14 appearances. Preston struck out 38 in 33 innings of work while earning Patriot League Rookie of the Week twice. The CCA Baseball Community is proud of  his accomplishments and wishes him well for the future.

Luke Jackson continues his maturation process in the Class A South Atlantic League. As of August 7th, Luke accumulated a 4-3 record for the Hickory Crawdads in 14 appearances, all as a starter. The 'Dads won the first half of the South Atlantic League Northern Divisioin and are currently a half game out of first for the second half. You can keep up with Luke at the following link:

It's only weeks or days before the seniors from 2011 begin their college careers so it seems an appropriate time to thank them again and ask for God's hand upon them in all they do at the next level. We lift up Anthony Avila, Emilio DeSilva, Ryan Lowrey, Tyler Middlebrooks, Seth Natal and Chris Walkerow as they expand the CCA Baseball legacy to new areas of this country.
